Water Cycle
The Task:
You are to research the steps of the water cycle. After this you must pretend you are a water droplet and write a creative story or comic strip describing a trip through the water cycle. You should include factual information in this fiction story.  Your droplet must travel through all the phases of the water cycle at least two times, each with different results.

The Process:

Step 1. Read the following on line stories about drops of water to get an understanding of the water cycle and the general idea of what your story may look like.

Drippy the Raindrop

Step 2. Research the parts of the water cycle.  Be sure to find the answers to the following questions in your research.
     a. What is evaporation? What causes evaporation?
     b. What is condensation? What causes condensation?
     c. What is precipitation?  What are the different forms?
     d. What is surface runoff? Where are places  it may                go?
     e. What are the three major types of clouds?  What type of weather do  they bring?
     f. Draw a diagram of the water cycle and label the parts.

Step 3.  Collect pictures for your story especially if you are going to write a comic strip. If you feel real creative you may draw a rain drop from using the drawing tools in Microsoft then add some of the faces below.
Step 4. Now you are ready to write your story. Write your rough draft in your journal, then type it as Word document.  Be creative! Your character must travel through all the parts of the water cycle at least twice but with different results.
Example: Once he may be snow, land on a mountain, and melt.  Then another time your drop might be a rain drop that lands on the street and goes down the sewer.
Use new words you learned in your story. Remember stories are more interesting if they have more than one character and include dialogue and descriptive words.
